"As long as both sides win, there is no obstacle to cooperation, but it only makes sense this way. Let us develop our world together and bring prosperity to our countries," said the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Hungary at our Thursday evening event.

Pécs was the next destination in the highly successful Ambassador Talk series. This time, our Pécs Center hosted His Excellency Saud Hamad Ghanem Hamad Al-Shamsi, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Hungary.

MCC's Ambassador Talk events provide a platform for ambassadors working abroad and those on diplomatic missions in Hungary to present the characteristics of their countries and their relations with Hungary. Ambassador Al-Shamsi emphasized that while he is accredited to Hungary, not just Budapest, he considers it his mission to visit as many towns and cities as possible across the country. He believes this is the only way to truly understand the needs of the Hungarian people. He highlighted that although the diplomatic relations between the two countries are still relatively young, numerous successful collaborations have been achieved in recent years, and this trend is expected to continue in the future.

Ambassador Al-Shams praised the values of MCC, stating that he would be delighted to see MCC not only in the Carpathian Basin and Brussels but also, perhaps, in Abu Dhabi.

Students from the Pécs University Program and High School Program asked numerous questions. Alex Kovács, a student from the Pécs University Program, engaged the ambassador in a discussion about his diplomatic experiences, daily work, and the challenges of his role.

During the presentation, the students gained insight into the country’s history, foreign investments, and mindset. The former UN diplomat captivated the students so much that they continued to approach him with questions even after the panel discussion. They also had the opportunity to engage in smaller group conversations to further the discussion.
