In 2024, both the European Union and the United States are preparing for important elections. Furthermore, migration is a focal point in the election campaigns on both shores of the Atlantic. The problems of integration, the existence of parallel societies, and imported conflicts as the pro-Hamas demonstrations in U.S. campuses all highlight the challenges of illegal migration. But how do they influence elections? Can they help Trump into the White House and a right-wing majority in the European Parliament? Or is the time of migration restrictionists still far on the horizon?
Seeking answers to these questions, the MCC Migraiton Research Institute in cooperation with the Machiavelli Centre for Political and Strategic Studies is organising a roundtable discussion on the topic of migration and its effect on the American and European Parliament elections.
